M ediarska spoločnosť investovala nemalé prostriedky do rozvoja baníc tva u nás. Ako prvá začala aj u nás využívať revolučnú hutnícku metódu oddeľovania striebra od medi podľa benátskeho vzoru. Išlo o sciedzanie kovovej rudy pomocou olova, čím sa získavala nielen čistejšia meď, ale navyše aj drahé striebro. O novej technológii získavania čistej medi v našich končinách kolujú rôzne historky. Jedna z nich hovorí o tom, ako sa Ján Thurzo prezliekol za žobráka a odišiel do Benátok. Tam sa dal najať do dielní, kde sa sciedzala meď z rudy. Po mesiacoch ťažkej práce konečne prišiel na tajomstvo čistenia medi a s týmto tajomstvom sa vrátil domov. Zavedením novej technológie vo svojej spoločnosti sa zrodil „zázrak“ výroby čistej medi v Španej Doline.

S poločnosť postupne zrušila staré nevýkonné zariade nia poháňané konskými záprahmi a investovala do výstavby moderných ban ských strojov poháňaných vodou. Zaviedla celý nový systém ťažby, dopravy a spracovania rudy. V okolitých obciach a pria mo v Banskej Bystrici, vtedy známej pod menom Neu sohl, dala spoločnosť vysta vať na vtedajšie časy uni kátne huty, v ktorých sa vo veľkom začali vyrábať kva litné medené odliatky. Tieto sa po dôkladnej kontrole predávali obchodníkom po

celej Európe, ktorí ich vyvážali do celého vtedy známeho sveta. Nastalo obdobie „zlatého veku medeného mesta“.

37) Taviaca pec

The copper company invested a considerable sum of money in the development of mining in our village. It started as the first company in our country to use the revolutionary metallurgical method of separating silver from copper according to the Venetian model. Thanks to the method related to draining metal ore using lead, not only purer copper but also precious silver were obtained. Different stories about the new technology of obtaining pure copper circulated in our region. One of them tells how Ján Thurzo disguised himself as a beggar and went to Venice. There he was hired by workshops where copper was drained from ore. After months of hard work he finally learned the secret of cleaning copper and he brought it home with him. Through the introduction of new technology in his company, a “miracle” in the production of pure copper in Špania Dolina took place. The company gradually put the old, inefficient equipment powered by horses out of operation, and invested in the construction of modern mining machinery powered by water. It introduced new methods of mining, transporting and processing ore. At that time, in the neighbouring villages and also directly in Banská Bystrica, then known as Neusohl, the company built unique smelters which started to produce copper castings of high quality. After a thorough inspection they were sold to traders all over Europe who exported them to the whole known world. The “golden age of the copper town” had arrived.

Die Kupfergesellschaft investierte große Summen in die Entwicklung des Bergbaus bei uns. Als Erste begann sie auch bei uns die revolutionäre Methode der Trennung von Silber von Kupfer

nach dem venezianischen Vorbild anzuwenden. Es ging um die Läuterung des Metallerzes mit Hilfe von Blei, womit nicht nur reineres Kupfer gewonnen wurde, sondern auch das teure Silber. Es gibt verschiedene Geschichten über die neue Technologie der Gewinnung von reinem Kupfer in unserer Gegend. Eine davon berichtet darüber, wie Johann Thurzo sich als Bettler verkleidete und nach Venedig reiste. Dort ließ er sich in Werkstätten anheuern, in denen Kupfer aus Erz geläutert wurde. Nach einige Monaten schwerer Arbeit enthüllte er das Geheimnis der Kupferreinigung und mit diesem Geheimnis kehrte er nach Hause zurück. Durch die Einführung des neuen Verfahrens in seiner Gesellschaft entstand das „Wunder“ der Herstellung reinen Kupfers in Špania Dolina. Die Gesellschaft schaffte allmählich die alten leistungsschwachen Einrichtungen, die mit Pferden angetrieben wurden, ab, und investierte in den Ausbau moderner Bergbaumaschinen, die mit Wasser angetrieben werden. Sie führte ein komplett neues System des Abbaus, des Transports und der Erzverarbeitung ein. In umliegenden Gemeinden und direkt in der Stadt Banská Bystrica, die damals unter dem Namen Neusohl bekannt war, ließ die Gesellschaft für damalige Zeiten fortschrittliche Hütten errichten, in denen man im Großen mit der Herstellung hochwertiger Kupferabgüsse begann. Diese wurden nach sorgfältiger Kontrolle an Händler in ganz Europa verkauft, die sie in die ganze damals bekannte Welt ausführten. Es begann das „goldene Zeitalter der Kupferstadt“.
