METHODS: Roswell Park Memorial Institute (RPMI) 1640 medium was infused with H2/ O2 gas and seeded with Epstein-Barr Virus-infected B-lymphocytes (TK6-lymphoblastoid) at a concentration of 1.5 x 105 cells/mL. Cell viability and proliferation was assessed after 24, 48 and 72-hour periods. RESULTS: Initial results show an anti-proliferative effect of H2/O2 upon TK6 Cells whilst cell viability largely remains unaffected. CONCLUSIONS: H2/O2 may inhibit the proliferative capacity of virus-infected cells which could have implications for the treatment of COVID-19, post-viral syndrome and other diseases.
