N ámestie obce bolo v dávnych časoch plné pracovného ruchu. No dnes je všade ticho, občas prídu návštevníci a zaparkujú si tu autá. V súčasnosti u nás žije len 198 stálych obyvateľov a 100 chalupárov, ktorí na víkendy utekajú zo svojich bytov v mes tách a prichádzajú relaxovať sem.

6) Vstup na námestie

A le ročne k nám zavíta viac ako desať tisíc návštevníkov zo všetkých možných kútov sveta. Prichádzajú k nám turisti, ale aj umelci bažiaci po inšpirácii a pokojnom mieste.

V strede námestia je parčík, prinášajúci po koj a pohodu pre každého, kto doň vstúpi. Zo všetkých strán cítiť historickú vôňu tohto mies ta, hoci má len 20-krát 30 metrov. Návštevníci obľubujú chvíľky strávené na lavičkách a od dychujú. Postupne sa prispôsobujú atmosfére nových pocitov. O začiatkoch baníctva v Španej Doline sa traduje táto povesť: Za čias starých Slovienov išiel kováč Dolič do hôr na lov. Prišiel k jazeru, na ktorom plávali strieborné kačky. Zbadal na brehu krásne zelené kamene. Začal ich

zbierať, lebo vedel, že práve tie potrebuje na vykovanie medenej spony. Ale zrazu sa ozval hrubý hlas jednej z kačiek: „Ja som duch podzemia. Kováč, ak chceš toto bohatstvo, musíte so svojimi potomkami po dobu 1000 rokov tento vrch rozvŕtať a kov z nájdenej rudy pre úžitok všetkých ľudí vyrobiť. O 1000 rokov sa vrátim a ak tak neučiníte, zle tvoji potomkovia pochodia“. Aj sa tak stalo. Ťažba rudy na Pieskoch vydržala presne 1000 rokov.

In ancient times, the main square of the village was very busy. Today, however, it is very calm and only occasional visitors park their cars here. In our village, there currently live only 198 permanent residents and 100 seasonal residents who want to escape from their city flats for weekends and come to relax here. Nevertheless every year more than 10,000 visitors from all over the world come to the village. They are not only tourists but also artists seeking inspiration and a peaceful place. In the middle of the square, there is a small park that instils calmness and peace into every visitor. The historical feel of this place can be sensed in all four of its corners, even though it is only 20 by 30 metres in size. Visitors take a rest and enjoy the time spent on the benches provided. They gradually get used to the new atmosphere. This is a legend from the early days of mining in Špania Dolina: In the days of the old Slavs, blacksmith Dolič went to the mountains to hunt. He came to the lake where some silver ducks were swimming. He spotted some beautiful green stones on the lakeside. He started to collect them because he knew that he would need them to forge a copper clasp. But suddenly a deep voice from one of the ducks said: “I am a ghost of the underground. Blacksmith, if you want this fortune, you and your descendants must dig up this hill all the way through for a thousand years and produce metal from its ore for the benefit of all people. I will come back a thousand years later and if you do not do so, evil will befall your descendants”. And so it happened. Mining of the ore in Piesky lasted exactly 1,000 years.

Der Hauptplatz der Gemeinde war in vergangenen Zeiten voll von Arbeitseifer. Heute aber ist es überall ruhig, ab und zu kommen Besucher und parken hier ihre Autos. Gegenwärtig leben hier

nur 198 Einwohner mit Hauptwohnsitz und 100 Menschen mit Zweitwohnsitz, die für das Wochenende aus ihren Stadtwohnungen fliehen und hierher zum Entspannen kommen. Jährlich kommen mehr als zehntausend Besucher aus aller Welt zu uns. Unter ihnen sind Touristen, aber auch Künstler, die sich nach Inspiration und einem ruhigen Ort sehnen. In der Mitte des Hauptplatzes befindet sich ein kleiner Park, der Ruhe und Gelassenheit demjenigen spendet, der ihn betritt. Von allen Seiten riecht man den historischen Duft dieses Ortes, obwohl seine Ausmaße nur 20 x 30 m betragen. Die Besucher genießen die Momente, die sie auf Parkbänken verbringen, und entspannen. Langsam passen sie sich der Atmosphäre neuer Gefühle an. Über die Anfänge des Bergbaus in Špania Dolina ist Folgendes überliefert worden: In der Zeit der alten Slawen ging der Schmied Dolič auf die Jagd in den Wald. Er kam zu einem See, in dem silberne Enten geschwommen sind. Am Ufer erblickte er wunderschöne grüne Steine. Er begann sie einzusammeln, da er wusste, dass er genau diese brauche, um eine Spange aus Kupfer zu schmieden. Plötzlich ertönte die tiefe Stimme einer Ente: „Ich bin der Geist der Unterwelt. Schmied, wenn du diese Reichtümer haben willst, musst du mit deinen Nachkommen tausend Jahre lang diesen Berg durchbohren und das Metall aus dem gefundenen Erz zum Nutzen aller Menschen verarbeiten! In tausend Jahren komme ich zurück und wenn du das nicht erfüllst, wird deinen Nachkommen Schlechtes widerfahren.“ So geschah es. Der Abbau des Erzes dauerte genau tausend Jahre lang an.
