B eniczkého dom patrí medzi najvýznamnejšie kultúrne pamiatky mesta. Svojou arkádovou loggiou smerujúcou do námestia patrí medzi unikáty slovenskej meštianskej architektúry. Dnes dom slúži ako polyfunkčný objekt s reštau ráciou a vychytenou letnou terasou. Ladislav Szentiványi, pôvodne z Liptovského Jána, dal roku 1792 nad vstupný portál osadiť svoj rodový erb.

S edmohradské knieža Gabriel Bethlen sa tiež zapísal do histórie mesta. V roku 1619 obsadil Banskú Bystricu, zvolal uhorský snem a nechal sa tu v roku 1620 zvoliť za uhorské ho kráľa. Aby bol Bethlen korunovaný za kráľa, dal v Bratislave ukradnúť kráľovské insígnie a priniesť ich do Banskej Bystrice. Ako sa to celé zbehlo, ťažko posúdiť, no dodnes sa dom č. 8 v Dolnej ulici nazýva Bethlenov.

K ostol sv. Alžbety na Huštáku patrí medzi najstaršie stav by v meste. Stojí tu už od roku 1303. Interiér je ozdobený vzácnou klenbou, oltárny obraz sv. Alžbety je od Jozefa Murgaša z Tajova, ktorý sa preslávil vynálezmi v oblasti bezdrôtovej telegrafie. Kostol bol súčasťou mestského špitála sv. Alžbety, ktorý sa za podpory mestskej rady a milodarov od bohatých mešťanov staral o žobrákov a mestskú chudobu.

Beniczky’s house is one of the most important cultural monuments of the town. Its arcaded loggia facing the main square is a unique piece of Slovak renaissance architecture. Nowadays the house serves as a multifunctional building, its restaurant and summer terrace are the town’s hot spots. In 1792 Ladislav Szentiványi, originally from Liptovský Ján, had his coat of arms placed over the entrance portal. The Transylvanian prince Gabriel Bethlen is also connected with the town’s history. In 1619 he conquered Banská Bystrica, announced the Hungarian Diet and made them elect him King of Hungary. In order to be able to be crowned, he had the royal insignia in Bratislava stolen and brought to Banská Bystrica. Nowadays it is difficult to assess how it all happened, although the house no. 8 in Dolná Street is named after Bethlen. The Church of St Elizabeth on Hušták is one of the oldest buildings in the town. It has stood there since 1303. Its interior is decorated by precious vaulted ceilings and the altarpiece of St Elizabeth was made by Jozef Murgaš of Tajov, who became famous for his inventions in the field of wireless telegraphy. The church was part of the St Elizabeth urban hospital and thanks to financial support of the City Council and alms from the rich burghers, it took care of beggars and urban poverty.

Das Haus von Beniczky gehört zu den bedeutendsten Kulturdenkmälern der Stadt. Aufgrund seiner arkadeförmigen Loggia, die zum Platz gerichtet ist, gehört es zu den Unikaten

der Slowakischen Renaissancearchitektur. Das Haus dient heute als ein polyfunktionales Objekt mit einem Restaurant und einer angesagten Aussenterasse. Der ursprünglich aus Liptovský Ján stammende Ladislaus Szentiványi ließ im Jahr 1792 über dem Eingangsportal sein Familienwappen anbringen. Der siebenebürgene Fürst Gabriel Bethlen hat sich auch in den Geschichtsbüchern der Stadt verewigt. Er besetzte im Jahr 1619 Banská Bystrica, rief den ungarischen Reichsrat zusammen und ließ sich hier im Jahr 1620 zum ungarischen König wählen. Bethlen ließ, damit er zum König gekrönt werden konnte, in Bratislava die königlichen Insignien stehlen und nach Banská Bystrica bringen. Wie es wirklich war, kann man nur schwer beurteilen, aber bis heute nennt man das Haus Nr. 8 in der Dolná ulica (untere Straße) das Haus von Bethlen. Die Kirche der Hl. Elisabeth am Hušták gehört zu den ältesten Bauwerken der Stadt. Sie steht hier schon ab dem Jahr 1303. Das Interieur schmückt ein kostbares Gewölbe, das Altarbild der Hl. Elisabeth stammt von Jozef Murgaš aus Tajov, der mit seinen Erfindungen im Bereich der drahtlosen Telegraphie Ruhm erlangt hat. Die Kirche war ein Teil des städtischen Krankenhauses der Hl. Elisabeth, das mit Spenden des Stadtrates und reicher Stadtbürger Bettler und Arme versorgte.
