RESULTS: HPostC significantly reduced IS/AR compared to non-conditioned controls. H2+HPostC further decreased IS/AR compared to the effect of HPostC, attenuated severe arrhythmias, and significantly restored heart function (vs. controls). CONCLUSIONS: Application of molecular hydrogen appears to be beneficial in a setting of hypoxic postconditioning by amplifying its efficiency. Potential mechanisms behind might be related to the antioxidative effects of HpostC and its enhancement by H2 treatment.
